The Spiralmate circular duct connector is designed and manufactured to provide an easy method of connecting sections of spiral and straight seamed duct at a lower overall cost than conventional “slip joints” with couplers.

A further benefit is the creation of a joint with perfect alignment and an excellent appearance. When installed correctly, the Spiralmate circular duct connector results in an airtight joint. Please note that the Spiralmate system is not suitable for use with duct gauges heavier than 16 GA.

System Components

A complete joint comprises two mating circular duct connecting flanges roll-formed from hot dipped galvanized steel with an integral sealant.

The joint is completed with a closure ring which joins the two circular flanges. A closed cell neoprene gasket is applied to one flange prior to completing the joint.

The Spiralmate Round Duct Connector system consists of the following components:

a. Two mating Round Duct Connector Flanges with an integral mastic in the duct receiving pocket.

b. A Closure Ring roll-formed from hot dipped galvanized steel.

Dimensions

The Spiralmate circular duct connector comprises two principal components which are available in two sizes and a range of diameters. The system is suitable for duct from 8 inches to 94 inches diameter.

Special Characteristics

The Spiralmate Duct Connector System has been tested by Professional Service Industries, Inc., a division of Pittsburgh Testing Laboratories, with test results as noted. No external sealant was employed and the certified test results reveal virtually no leakage at up to 18″ WG positive pressure or down to 10″ WG negative pressure.

Limitations

The Spiralmate Small Profile Round Duct Connector is not recommended for applications with spiral duct gauges heavier then 20 GA or lighter then 28 GA. The Spiralmate Large Profile Round Duct Connector is not recommended for applications with spiral duct gauges heavier then 16 GA or lighter then 28 GA. Both Spiralmate Profiles will accept 12 GA longitudinal duct seam. Some duct manufacturers may weld on the seams to keep them from falling apart once the duct is manufactured. These welds may need to be ground down to fit the pocket. This will not compromise the duct seam as long as the spiral flanges are attached just after grinding.
